Hi, I’m Mel. I’m from Wales originally but I’ve lived in the US for, hmm, about 14 years now. My daughter is autistic and non verbal. She has a twin who has Apraxia and honestly I don’t know what her final diagnosis will be, I’m not sure anyone else does either right now. I have developed a recent passion about the public education system and it’s services towards our autistic children. Mainly after I found out special education was the only law you seemed expected to negotiate. I find myself involved in the politics of it a little more than I planned but that’s a whole different story and not one for this group. I did also find myself being drawn from one end of the autism discussion to the other and back again when this was brand new to me, but as is usually the case I find myself happier with the calmer more experienced voices. Glad to be here. Looking forward to getting to know you all. Oh, and my special talents are typos and thinking I’m funnier than I actually am
